Standard AliExpress shipping runs ten to thirty days; choosing a local-warehouse listing can cut that to under a week, but it is not the default. Amazon's one to five days is a different category of service.
Amazon is more consistent overall. AliExpress gives you unusually good per-store data — order counts, ratings by dimension, dispute history — so a careful buyer can pick well. The floor is lower; the ceiling with diligence is respectable.
Amazon prints a label and refunds within days. On AliExpress, return terms vary by listing and posting a low-value item back to another continent is often uneconomic; disputes usually settle as a partial or full refund without a return.
For branded goods, Amazon. AliExpress is excellent for generic and unbranded parts, which is much of what people buy there, but branded listings need real seller vetting.
Amazon resolves faster with less back-and-forth. AliExpress Buyer Protection does work — payment is held in escrow and the dispute window is clearly defined — it just takes longer and expects you to document the problem.

Sizing risk plus slow return postage makes cheap apparel a false economy on long-haul routes.
Faster and simpler for everyday household items, unless you want something niche enough that retail does not stock it.
Microcontrollers, connectors, RC and 3D-printing spares, repair parts and obscure accessories, at single-unit prices near wholesale. AliExpress wins this outright.
